PV System Size: 100 kW Shopping-center owner and operator Westfield has added a 100 kW solar array to its University Town Center asset in San Diego County. SEP was hired by Westfield to solicit multiple bids from the best solar integrators in the industry. SEP provided an apples-to-apples comparison of all of the bid responses to help Westfield choose the highest value and most qualified integrator for the University Town Center in La jolla, CA. The financier chosen was Resource Energy Systems who partnered with SPG Solar, the system will provide approximately 50% of the power requirements for the common areas of the mall's ice rink and food court.
Mission Plaza in San Francisco - 30 kW Solar PV & 2,800 Sq. Ft. Solar Thermal
Mission Plaza, located in San Francisco, California, is a federally subsidized low-income apartment building designed for seniors, families and people with disabilities. SEP was hired to manage the process of adding solar Photovoltaics (PV) and solar thermal to the building. SEP worked with the property management company, Urban Pacific Properties, to coordinate re-roofing and the installation of both the solar systems.
The project was awarded to a local installation company. A combination of PV and solar thermal was chosen to help offset the common area maintenance (CAM) costs associated with the elevators, hall lighting, exterior lighting and domestic hot water. The PV system offsets over $9,000 per year in avoided energy costs, which is approximately 40% of the buildings CAM electrical loads. The solar thermal provides over 75% of the domestic hot water needs for the entire building. The solar thermal is plumbed to the ground floor domestic hot water tank.

SEP was hired by Chronicle Books to develop a 30 kW photovoltaic system on their building in San Francisco, CA. This is a roof mounted system that was installed during some other major renovations on in the building.
